By DEBORAH PRESTON assisted by Stephanie Willaton & Stephen Thurston. Deborah’s background spans 20 years of enthusiasm for cooking using organic wholefoods in Sydney. She set up and managed the first wholefoods restaurant at the NSW School of Natural Therapies whilst studying there in the early 80’s, worked for several years as principle cook and manager at IKU Wholefoods in its early days in Glebe, and then created and managed One Earth Foods for 5 years before moving to Byron Bay in 2000. During this time Deborah studied both western naturopathic nutrition as well as eastern macrobiotic principles of health and healing. She combines this with a love of food to create meals that are well balanced, nutritious and full of flavour and enjoyment. Deborah now cooks for retreats at Sangsurya providing fresh, high quality, well presented, healthy vegetarian food. Produce and ingredients are organic and local wherever possible (approx 80%) and include gluten free options and minimal dairy and sugar. All meals are set out buffet style.

“ Finding Freedom Through Coming to Our Senses “ with JOHN BARTER Buddhist Psychologist & Meditation Teacher
'Realise and live from that place within ourselves where we are already Free'. We all seek in some way and in some form the experience of Freedom. Much of the stress and angst of our life is because we get caught into longing-for or regretting what has been, or wishing-for or worrying about what might be. Given that how we know and experience life is through the portals of experience we call our senses, and that our senses are only sensitive to what is happening in the present moment; then the only place to live, to learn, to love, to heal or find freedom is this point of existence - the Present Moment. This Meditation Retreat through the practice of Mindfulness Meditation and Wisdom Teachings allows the possibility of Finding Freedom through Coming to our Senses - both literally and metaphorically. This Mindfulness Mediation Retreat offers the opportunity to: · Learn about 'Mindfulness' & Conscious Living', becoming more present to ourselves and our life. · Develop and deepen our meditation practice, reducing stress, enabling calm clarity and coming to our senses. · Feel more fulfilled through bringing mindfulness to our senses, connecting directly with our experience of being alive. · Receive wisdom teachings based on John Barter's 25 years of study and practice of Buddhism and his work as a Buddhist Psychologist, helping us to gain perspective, find freedom and an inner place of peace. · Have time, space and clarity to reflect on our year that has been and prepare for our year ahead. · Live mindfully with like minded people in a beautiful coastal retreat for a week, eating well, feeling well, walking and practicing meditation and yoga.
